Payless Shoes
Payless Shoes Reveals Plans for Designer Footwear Collections

While many shoppers are getting ready for the fall season, NY Fashion Week at Bryant Park is in full force showcasing the coolest trends-to-come for the Spring 08 season. Payless Shoes is present in force with guest designers Laura Poretzky, Lela Rose and Stacey Bendet. They are there to unveil the company's new footwear and handbag collections, which will hit stores in Feb. 2008 with an median price of under thirty dollars an item.

Consumers don't have to wait in line to get the hottest, most trendy runway looks for less. Currently, customers can get their hands on the Payless shoes Designer Collections in select Payless shoes stores. The fall collections are Poretzky's 5th and Lela Rose's 1st seasonal collections that have been created exclusively for the retailer. Bendet recently signed on with the company earlier this year.

Payless is on a mission to equalize fashion and design in foot wear and accessories. The Payless Designer Collections of innovative footwear and handbag designs have come directly from the imaginations of top fashion designers.

"We are thrilled to be with our three designers at the nation's premier fashion event, New York Fashion Week," said Matt Rubel, CEO for Payless Shoes. "Our Guest Designer program is truly unique in the industry. Each designer has a distinctive design vocabulary that results in three very different collections in our stores. There is no limit to the designer's creativity; they produce the designs and we create the shoes for their Fashion Week runway shows, and then commercialize those looks for Payless stores -- most styles looking near-exact to the styles from the runway.

"It's a win for all -- customers get access to great designs and original runway style at a great price; the designers are supported, gain a new platform for their creativity and broader access to their designs; and Payless is able to offer true Designer Collections -- among the most widely distributed designer footwear labels in America today."

Poretzky will show off her 6th shoe collection for Payless at her Abaete show at NY Fashion Week. Miami Art Deco meets Forties film and stage actress Gene Tierney in the Spring 2008 Collection which features 6 shoe styles and 2 handbags. Exciting Miami tones such as "deco pink," "summer sky" "sunset coral" "canary yellow" and "Palm Beach sand" mesh with vintage-inspired heels and flats that sport round and peep toes, pleat details in silk crepe, perforated kidskin leather, stretched linen and snake skin.

A Few Words On the New Payless Designers:

Laura Poretzky-

Laura Poretzky is a NY-based designer who designs for Abaete. Born in France to a Russian father and Danish-Brazilian mom, she was raised in Paris, Rio de Janeiro and New York as a globetrotting child. Upon graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), Laura worked at a few of the most exclusive fashion companies in New York. Following the launch of her swim wear line, Laura expanded her designs to include a complete line of ready-to-wear clothes and footwear.

Lela Rose-

Lela Rose, a Texas native and 93 graduate of Parson's School of Design worked at Christian Francis Roth as a Design Assistant. Following that, she collaborated with Richard Tyler in the capacity of a Design Assistant and Buyer. In 98, Rose's passion drove her to create her ready-to-wear collection. With intricately detailed separates, as well as dresses and jackets, Rose has cemented her place among the world's foremost designers. In early 2007, Rose also unveiled a collection of wedding wear that is focused on pairing previously unpaired fabrics and techniques, a style that is unique to her. Rose is now sharing her designer footwear collection with the world.

Stacey Bendet-

In 02 Stacey Bendet, alice + olivia launched a "just pants" collection to overwhelming reviews. Shortly thereafter the founder of Theory, Adam Rosen established himself as Stacey's partner. Using unique fabrics and innovative designs, A + O successfully expanded their line to include tops, dresses, evening wear, sweaters, swim suits, jeans and men's clothes. This created a unique lifestyle brand for today's retro fashionista. The collection can be ofund at boutiques and over five hundred stores around the world.
